The shipping companies UASC (United Arab Shipping Company) and CSCL ( China Shipping Container Line) are aiming for the new giants of the SEA to make them land at SECH Pier of Genoa’s port.
In fact, recently, both companies have ordered container ships with a capacity higher than the present allowed one in SECH.

Incoterms,  (contraction of international commercial terms) is the series of terms used in the field of imports and exports, valid worldwide, which defines uniquely and unmistakably every right and duty of the competent authority to the various legal entities involved in a transaction transfer of goods from one country to another.

Works for the expansion of the Panama Canal by GUPC (Grupo Unidos por el Canal ) have started again. The GUPC, a consortium, is led by the Spanish company Sacyr and in which we also find the Italian Salini-Impregilo.

The construction works had been stopped before due to the breach of negotiations on the additional costs of 1,6 billion dollars (a price equal to half of the commission value of 3,3 billion dollars), but after several negotiations and the Consortium threat of suspending works if the Panamanian authorities had failed to provide the additional funds necessary to the conclusion of the Canal, Panama Canal Authority and the consortium GUPC have reached a partial agreement.

The Ortega government of Nicaragua approved the realization of an "alternative route" of transit between the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean less than 300 km from Panama. 

The project is worth 30 billion Euros and is going to be built by HK Nicaragua Canal Development Investment co, one of the many giants in Chinese fee that, in exchange for a concession of 50 years on the toll ( contract that can be renewable for another 50 years) and the use of the channel, will be in charge of the construction. 

GPL – Global Port Investments ( main port operator in Eastern Europe) and NCC – National Container Company ( Russian port operator that controls 80% of the container terminal at Ust Luga) have completed their merger transaction by grand total of 1.6 billion dollars.

At the end of August 2013, in the port of Santos the new container Brasil Terminal was officially launched, which was created thanks to the collaboration between Investment Limites (shipping group MSC) and APM Terminal (shipping group A.P. Moller).

The new terminal, with an extension of 490.000 mq and a capacity of 1.2 million TEUs, has 8 ship-to-shore cranes which are placed from 1108 m of dock and capable of sorting 3 container ships of 9200 TEUs each at the same time.

Starting from November 2013 on Cuba is going to be the main actor in a commercial turn around unique in the last 50 years of history: the creation of a FREE TRADE ZONE.
Until now the ship seizure and the Helmes-Burton's law ( forbidding forbids the international ships to dock in American ports if having landed in a Cuban port during the last six months) have forbidden Cuba to develop commercially the similar way of the other Caribbean countries, maintaining an undefined and narrow-minded behavior with regards to the overseas markets. 

VTE (Voltri Terminal Europa), the first Italian port for import-export volumes and member of the INTERNATIONAL PSA (Port of Singapore Authority) group, has moved 600.000 TEUs in the first 6 months of 2013.
